Overall: real 5-star luxury holiday. We loved this resort and whilst it's expensive, it's absolutely worth it. The best mix of suitability for the kids and genuine relaxation for the parents we've enjoyed - can't remember ever coming back feeling like the holiday was longer than it really was - it's that good! Truly a dream holiday.

Accommodation: Very high quality rooms (spotlessly clean and beautifully made up every day). We spent a week in a luxury suite - wife loved it but we wouldn't bother next time as the 2 room family suite with middle lounge section which we stayed in for 4 nights was ideal.

Service: exemplary - almost far-east quality. Never experienced a reception with this level of genuine helpfulness - really felt like they wanted to make your stay fab, not just saying that, Need to mention Dafne on the front desk - awesome lady - thank you. Others we wanted to thank were Vivi by the pool (never before would have believed that someone around the pool area could make such a difference to a holiday), Barbara and Charlotte at the kids club, Nikos at the gym and Panos (lovely man who worked so hard to fix even the most minor of glitches). All of them and others whose names I wish I remembered really made a difference and made all 5 of us feel special every day!

Facilities: not quite at the level of a club med but more than sufficient for all but the most active. Draw-back that many required additional payment (cycling, football academy, water sports, dance academy). Football academy deserves special mention - Wayne and Phil are cool and very aware of the kids needs and really know their stuff (even if they support rubbish teams)! I'm a football coach for my son's team and I learnt loads watching them and the boys (5 and 10 - different age groups) both loved the sessions. Expensive but worth every penny.

Kids club: staff were brilliant but 1) it's a bit vague how formal you need to be re booking kids in - officially you need to book (and I would suggest you do so several months before you go) but they're also quite relaxed about missed sessions and trying to squeeze you in for others as long as you try to let them know in advance where you can and don;t take the Mickey. 2) Bigger issue is the perennial gamble of ages and genders of other attendees. My 10 year old was very obviously too old (would have gone to teen club if he hadn't found mates by the pool) and my 9-year old girl ended up with younger girls too often. 5-year old boy were just about okay but at times didn't have quite the right age groups and genders to really make it work. Big plus at resort overall is the high proportion of English guests which means making friends for all the kids was very easy - huge factor as to why we'll strongly consider returning next year. Definitely wouldn;t plan for the older 2 to go to kids club but would be confident of them meeting others around the pool.

Resort: the proximity of the Marina to the hotel (7 minute walk-ish) means you feel like you're getting away to a different place in the day or evenings - even though it's obviously all part of the same resort... It works really well and the choice of restaurants avoids the Groundhog Day feeling of main buffet restaurant.

Restaurants: 4 star, not 5 star but the choice of the Marina options makes it a very good 4 star. Poseidon (main buffet restaurant) has too much pork and desserts aren't quite up to the other options. Even so, perfect for the kids with enough options for even the fussiest eater (10 year-old). BOOK YOUR RESTAURANTS EARLY! Some, like Katsu (lovely but overpriced and completely wasted on the kids) are hard to get tables for. Personal favorites were Macaroni (Italian) and above all the Creperie - it's not on the half board option but the best staff of any restaurant we went to, a TV for weekend footie viewing and a real range of food from impressive salads to indulgent crepes - thanks to Eleni - what a legend! We were on the half board menu - if you're not crazy about a stonking bill at the end of the holiday, this can get a little tiresome - trying to keep to the restaurants that are on the plan and aiming for the set menu when you really want something else (then giving in cos you're on holiday after all!). On balance would still go for half rather than full board next time (but only because full board is extortionate).

Downsides:

- the shows are rubbish! Not quite sure why given that the dancers and singers are professional - somehow the production just comes off as cheap and misses the mark. Too many songs were neither pitched at the kids nor us parents. Least impressive part of the resort.

- not quite enough sports options. I'm no fitness freak but would have been nice to have the option to join a tennis group one or 2 days. There are group sports (volleyball, football, basketball, jogging etc) but you feel there could be more for the number of guests in the resort - especially as most are juggling kids so can;t always make the allotted times.

From an amazing welcome the minute we arrived, to the level of service and the standard throughout th resort, everything was top class. We would like to mention in particular Vivi at the poolside who served us lunch everyday with a smile and Antonis who was willing to help at any time and who had such an excellent manner. There are so many other things we could mention and we would really love to return and will definitely be recommending you to our friends and family!

A great resort - beautiful, clean, very well resourced: this was the first holiday ever that we didn't once leave the resort. Great food, and a wide variety of restaurants. Superb service throughout. Loads to do.

The 'Rooms' score above is slightly down because the room is a little bit smaller than those in similar resorts e.g. Daios Cove in Crete. But it's important to emphasize that this in no way detracted from the stay: the room was actually fantastic.

The only change I'd suggest is to make the resort entirely cashless i.e. everything, including watersports, chargeable to the room. But that's a very minor criticism.

What can I say but we enjoyed our 8 day break last year we have decided to return on the 26th September 2016 for two weeks. George and his entire staff are exceptional and you would be hard pressed to find a better overall holiday destination for you or your family no matter what the ages. Looking forward to doing some of the things time did not allow last year plus relax on the beaches, dine around, the marina, the cruises and the entertainment. Can't wait...See you all soon, Laurence and Michele.

This was our first time at one of the Sani Resorts and after lots of research we decided on Porto Sani Village.

First impressions were really good. The check in process is great and all organised with a cold drink by the pool which was appreciated after an early morning flight. Our room wasn't available until the following night unfortunately but they handled it well and gave us a good alternative by the marina and moved us the following day. It is a large resort but I have to say the design is very good with lots of different areas to wander around and explore. It is really well maintained with lovely plants and flowers all very well kept. What really stands out here though is the staff. They are so warm and welcoming - especially with kids and you receive smiles everywhere you go in the resort. The food is also very good - the Japanese was excellent and the main Porto restaurant was very impressive we also loved the beach bar where they have the white party and the sea there is gorgeous and great to swim in. My only recommendation would be to change the age range for the kids club - my 9 and 11 year old really wanted to go but felt it was very young and were both too young for the teens club. We have been to similar hotels where they manage the split in age groups really well. Overall though it's a lovely hotel which from what we saw gets a huge amount of repeat business and I'm sure we too will return one day.

From the moment I arrived to when we left, I felt like I was in heaven. The place is beautiful, the staff are on another level to helpful - they literally, can't help you enough and the food is devine. There is plenty to do if you like an action packed day but you can also slope off to the beach and sunbathe the day away in peace if you like. What we loved about it most though is the fact that they love families. They understand our needs and cater for them. You can enjoy luxury but where kids can still be kids and take beach balls into the pool and have a lot of fun. In May the outdoor pool could do with a bit more heat/turning up a notch as it was freezing getting out but hey ho, it wouldn't put me off going again! I'd have no hesitation in recommending this place but be warned, you'll not want to leave and you'll be desperate to go back!

This was a particularly special holiday for us as it coincided with our third wedding anniversary and my birthday. It was also our first family holiday in Greece, travelling with our one year old baby. Sani Resort surpassed all of our expectations for our week away, genuinely making it the best holiday we have had. It's a fabulous beach location with stunning views, a great choice of restaurants and friendly staff who instantly make you feel welcome. I would highly recommend this place to anyone... and I will most definitely be coming back!

Our family of 10 (6 adults and 4 children) spent a relaxing week at the Sani Beach Hotel. It was our first holiday at the Sani resort and we were impressed by the high standard of service and cleanliness of the hotel. The main negative point was that it was very difficult to reserve a table at any of the restaurants for 10 people - we should have been told before we arrived that it was necessary to book well in advance. Most of the restaurants we ate at were very good, with the exception of the pool grill at the hotel. We enjoyed playing tennis every day and also had a treatment at the spa. We ventured off site to celebrate my father-in-law's 70th birthday, enjoying some of the cuisine in the local area, recommended by one of the concierges. Doing this was clearly very unusual though, most people stay on site for their entire stay. The staff were very attentive and plentiful, the service on the beach was particularly good and the head concierge was excellent - finding a restaurant for us all to eat at together on every night of our stay caused him a headache though. Another issue was the number of sunbeds - those close to the main pool had been 'reserved' by 9am each day as anyone with small children needs to be close by. We were lucky that, with slightly older children, we were happy to be on the beach by the infinity pool where sunbeds were not full until a bit later on in the morning. I think perhaps another pool needs to be built at the main hotel. The evening entertainment was very good and of a high standard - I particularly enjoyed the Michael Jackson tribute - but, once again, this got very busy and seats were at a premium so arriving late was not an option. All in all, we had a very enjoyable holiday but I'm unsure if we would return.

My partner & I stayed at the Sani Beach Hotel for 5 nights from 15th (the first day of the season)-20th April . It's been the first holiday of this kind that I have been on as my holidays are usually very on the go doing lots of sight seeing but we thought we need a bit of R&R. Here are my thoughts on the good and bad points of our stay.

Good -

*The hotel building and whole resort grounds and swimming pools are beautiful and immaculately well kept. The location is excellent right on a lovely beach with crystal clear water.

*The staff are brilliant , they are so welcoming and can't do enough for you. We were very impressed with the welcome we received when we first arrived being presented with a cool towel and a glass of champagne.

*The food was generally of a very high standard in the restaurants on site and in the marina. The buffets offered a wide and varied selection and the restaurants in the marina very good (our favourite being Macaroni -the Italian).

*There are plenty of activities laid on for those wanted to do them. We were quite content to just float about in the pool and enjoy the spa facilities which were very good.

*Being at the start of the season the resort was not too busy and we got plenty of access to the buffet without having to fight through loads of people. It was also no problem finding a spot by the pool or beach. I imagine peak season in July/August would be pretty hellish.

*We thought the resort caterted well for both families and couples who might not want lots of children round them by offering certain times when facilities were for adults only and certain restaurants being for over 12's only.

*The room was very good , clean and well kept with a large comfy bed.My partner also was very impressed with the Semonin bath products.

*Overall a lovely place to relax and destress.

The Not So Good -

*The information you are provided with on check in about the dine around program is quite confusing and misleading. We were quite annoyed to find out certain restaurants in the Marina opened for lunch where as the leaflet we were given says they all open at 6pm. There also seemed to be allot of confusion even with certain staff members saying different things about when and how many times a full board customer could use the meal allowance. There needs to be allot more clarity with this so people know what their options are as the Marina is dead quiet at lunch time as I don't think people know they can go there.

*The a la carte menu choices in the marina and drinks were very expensive, even with a 20 euro per person meal allowance we still ended up paying more.

*The cooked food and coffee at the breakfast buffet was luke warm and not as hot as we would have liked. Your best to stick with the cold stuff - the Greek yogurt with honey and walnuts was delicious!.

*A few lapses in service you wouldn't expect from a 5 star hotel like drinks orders mixed up and the coffee and tea in the bedroom not being replaced and having to phone up and ask for more.

*Half the resort and all the other hotels were not due to open till the 28th, which meant we missed out on some facilities and restaurants. We thought this could have been advertised better at the time of booking. This also meant there were always allot of workmen walking around site getting the other hotels ready.

*The Greek microbrewery beers that I wanted to try were never available in the restaurants but always on the menu.

*If you are not a fan of cats as my partner isn't please be aware there are quite a few wandering round the Marina scrounging at the outside dining areas.

*There isn't really much of anything else in the area so you are pretty much confined to the resort which might not be to everyone's liking. There isn't like a local town you can go and have a walk to or anything.

*Why I am giving this hotel 5 instead of 4 -

On mentioning the issues I mentioned above about the dine around program and the misleading information to Panos on guest relations .He took on board and acknowledged the issues and what we were saying and after issuing his apologies said he would see what he could do for us. Later on when we had just sat down for our final dinner of our stay in the 'Asia' restaurant who should arrive but Panos to tell us that this meal would be complimentary and again offering his apologies. Now that is what you call customer service! , they have acknowledged that there is a problem and dealt with it in a way that sees these guests going home happy.

Hotel management if you are reading this Panos deserves a promotion.

I had high expectations of the Sani and it delivered on almost all of them. The staff were impeccable, the service outstanding, the food in all the restaurants could rival any top London eatery, kids activities were endless along with a choice of pools and stunning beach and nature reserve walks or runs! My only disappointment was the the room and the noise level between the rooms and on the corridor at night. We were totally underwhelmed with the size of the junior suite. As a young family (2 girls) the room consisted of a double bed and a double sofa bed and was extremely cramped. The noise levels between the rooms on our floor and the corridors disturbed our sleep every night which impacted on us on the subsequent days. The hotel was full so it was not possible to move us. Despite this every other aspect of the Sani was wonderful and we have booked again in a larger suite. We are praying that this time the other hotel occupants will not be so noisy!

When we commented favourably on the service from some of the staff, we were even rewarded with complementary extras.

We were told in advance that there is so much to do that you wouldn't want to venture beyond the resort during the week and this proved true, although for a longer stay there are some fantastic places to see and things to do in the surrounding area.

We had a wonderful week staying at Sani beach Club! Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated, and kept to a very high standard of cleanliness every day. Food was fantastic, both in the buffet restaurants and dine around restaurants. The beach is spotless and water beautifully clear, perfect for our little boy to play in. The pools were also excellent, with a nice mix of kids pool, adult pool, and indoor pool over at the main hotel. What made the holiday for us were the staff, they make you feel so welcome and nothing is a problem, they fall over themselves to make your stay effortless and enjoyable beginning to end. Special mentions must go to Pavel, Sinisha, Theodora and Marius, and Caterina over in the main hotel reception. They made such a fuss of our little boy Federico and were so friendly and attentive, they really made you feel like a special guest. This was our second visit to Sani and we can't wait to return!
